According to the spokesman of the Punjab Police, the suspects had set fire to a young man named Abbas over a dispute over the ownership of the shop. A case has been immediately registered against the accused. Later, on the orders of IG Punjab, the police arrested three accused, including Iqbal Dogar, for the murder. According to DPO Tariq Wilayat, there was a dispute between the parties regarding the ownership of the shop.
