Holding a seminar on the harassment act at GC Women's University

Faisalabad(94 news)A seminar on anti-harassment policy by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan was organized by the Department of Law at Government College University Faisalabad. In the seminar, female provincial ombudsman Nabila Hakim Ali was the chief guest. The female ombudsman gave a detailed lecture on the harassment act, higher education policy, registration of complaints and procedures. Provincial ombudsman Nabila Hakim Khan said that the biggest challenge is to provide awareness to women regarding their protection. If women are aware of their rights, they can protect themselves. He said that practical steps are being taken to provide protection whether they are housewives, working women or students. Awareness is being provided regarding the code of conduct for anti-harassment in educational institutions. The focal persons of the seminar were Dr. Muhammad Imran and Dr. Sulaiman Akbar. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Rauf Azam said that the university has a zero-tolerance policy on harassment. Women are being provided a peaceful and conducive environment in the university which is also increasing their potential. The Vice-Chancellor gave a briefing about the Harassment Committee established in the university and its working methods. Professor Dr. Rana Malik expressed his views and said that it is the responsibility of all of us to provide protection to women. He said that after the home, educational institutions should be considered as the most peaceful and safe place. Chairman of the Department of Law, Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, said that the institution of female ombudsman is a shield for women. Only by stabilizing women economically and socially will Pakistan become stronger. Ombudsman Nabila Hakim Ali Khan along with Vice Chancellor Dr. Rauf Azam displayed the code of conduct against harassment in the university and also planted saplings in the university.
