A recently released United Nations assessment report on the state of education at the global level has said that Pakistan is among the countries that still have a lot to do to achieve the goals related to education.

In the preparation of this report, UNESCO has received support from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other sub-sectors of the organization.

The report said that education can play a very important role in progress towards achieving the global sustainable development goals, but a new way of thinking is needed for this purpose.

The report states that there are two million and four million children in Pakistan who are out of school and providing education to these children is a major challenge for the country.

Pakistan's Federal Minister of State for Education Muhammad Balighur Rehman said in a special conversation with Voice of America that two years ago, the number of out-of-school children was increasing, but according to him, the situation is improving now.
