Mufti Taqi Osmani assault case registered, suspect arrested
Karachi (94 news) A case of attack on the well-known religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani was registered and the suspect was arrested. During the search, a sharp instrument was also recovered from the suspect.
According to the police, a suspicious person named Asim has been formally arrested and a case of attempted murder has been registered against him in the official complaint at Awami Colony police station. SSP Kurangi Shah Jahan told Geonews that Asim Laeeq, a resident of Gulistan Johar, sought permission to meet Mufti Taqi Usmani after Fajr prayers.
The suspect says that he came to pray because of a domestic dispute, while Mufti Taqi Osmani's guards searched the suspicious person and found a knife in his pocket. As soon as the incident was reported, a team of Rangers and police reached the spot and detained the suspect and took the knife into custody, while chocolates and new clothes were also found from the accused.
Police officials say that a lab will be sent for the presence of poison or any other substance on the knife, further legal action will be determined after the report.
