Deputy Director (Slum Department of Estate Management i )FDA Mian Muhammad Ashraf said that the slums included in the survey in 2011 were notified in February 2013, including 45 residential units of Kuchiabadi Awami Colony near Tariq Road, 356 units of New Kuchiabadi Milkhanwala, 30 units of Kuchiabadi Changur Mohalla Sargodha Road, 23 units of New Additional Kuchabadi Ali Town Sargodha Road. 22 units of slum Osmanabad near Dhadiwala, 79 units of slum Sultanpura near Mai Di Jhagi, 928 units of New slum Mai Di Jhagi, 527 units of New slum Bole Di Jhagi and 119 residential units of slum Arayan Jhang Road.
He explained that according to the policy of the Punjab government, to provide ownership rights to the residents of slums, the price of land up to five marla has been set at two percent of the current DC rate per marla, while the price of land above five marla will be as per the current DC rate. He said that special measures have been taken by the FDA to facilitate the residents of these slums so that ownership rights can be provided in an easy manner. He advised that this is a great opportunity to get ownership rights before this policy is changed and the residents of these slums do not get a chance to benefit and face financial difficulties.
