Dr. Iqar Ahmad Khan termed the Punjab Governor's decision as political interference in academic affairs, saying that such decisions weaken the administrative structure of the university. He said that the decision gives an impression that the governor of Punjab wants to control educational institutions on political grounds, which will adversely affect the quality of higher education. The eligibility of each applicant was examined in detail and unsuitable candidates were given an opportunity to appeal. Dr. Iqar Ahmed Khan termed the decision of the Punjab Governor as a direct attack on the academic standards of the university, saying that if the decision is upheld, academic and research activities in the university will suffer irreparably.
