24News suspends license for broadcasting hate speech

Islam Abad (94 news) PEMRA launches private TV channel 24 The license of the news was suspended once again and a show cause notice was issued to the administration and a response was sought.

According to the announcement” PEMRA has immediately suspended the license of 24 News for airing hateful content during the special transmission of 10th of Muharram. CENTRAL MEDIA NETWORK PRIVATE LIMITED(24news)During the special transmission of 10th of Muharram, aired hateful content without any editorial control and blatantly violated PEMRA rules. PEMRA has received complaints against the content on social media on which the authority has taken immediate action under the section of PEMRA Ordinance. (3 )30The license of 24News has been suspended as there is a fear of peace across the country due to the broadcast of hateful content. Additionally, 24 News has been issued a show cause notice and has been ordered to respond within 14 days and the channel has been provided an opportunity for personal hearing as per the law. The license of the channel will remain suspended till the inquiry is completed”۔
