Requests to restore the facility of free electricity units to WAPDA employees were rejected

Peshawar (94 news) The Peshawar High Court rejected the petitions filed regarding the restoration of free electricity units to WAPDA employees. The court said that provision of free electricity units is not a permanent or inalienable legal right of the employees.
The court of Peshawar issued a written decision on the petitions filed against the termination of the facility of free electricity units and declared the decision of the government to give financial allowance in lieu of this facility legal.
The court held that the free electricity units were not a permanent or irrevocable legal right of the employees but it was an administrative facility, which could be changed or abolished in view of changing economic conditions, government policy and national interest. The caretaker government's move was made in the context of policy continuity and administrative reforms, so it could not be declared illegal or unconstitutional.
In the light of these arguments, the Peshawar High Court upheld the decision of the government, dismissing all the relevant petitions of the WAPDA employees.
