According to the details, the Prime Minister has suggested names for the post of Chief Election Commissioner in a letter written to Opposition Leader Mian Shahbaz Sharif. The prime minister has proposed the names of Jameel Ahmed, Fazl Abbas Mekan and Sikandar Sultan Raja, all three nominees from the bureaucracy. All three candidates have been appointed to the posts of Federal Secretary.
In a letter to Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the issue of appointment of Chief Election Commissioner has been pending for a long time and therefore he is sending a reconstituted panel after consultation to agree on one of the names.
