Faisalabad (94 news) According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Agriculture Department, following the instructions of the caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, the Agriculture Department took vigorous action against fake agricultural poisons during the year 2023 to ensure the supply of quality agricultural poisons to the farmers and reduce their production cost.

In this regard, the Department of Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides under the leadership of Secretary Agriculture Punjab Nader Chatta continued to crack down on fake agricultural drugs and during these operations 11 lakh 74 thousand kilograms of poisons were seized and referred to the police. The value of seized fake and adulterated poisons is Rs 37 crore. Apart from this, 9084 samples were sent to the laboratories for analysis to check the quality of agricultural poisons, out of which 273 samples were found to be substandard. On classified information 555 Raids were conducted and 679 cases were registered. During this campaign, 242 people were arrested on the spot.

The spokesman of Punjab Agriculture Department further said that the year 2023 19 illegal factories/firms manufacturing fake poisons were caught during the year. 734 agricultural companies were registered as distributors in Punjab and 17099 Dealership licenses were issued to individuals.
