Monsoon seases industrial units that discharge more water

Faisalabad (94 News City Reporter) A joint team of Vasa Faisalabad, District Administration and Environment Protection Department has sealed the industrial units discharging excessive water against the rules. The team formed under the chairmanship of the Assistant Commissioner inspected several industrial units in different areas while Managing Director Vasa Sohail Qadir Cheema was represented by Director P&D Maqbool Ahmed in the team. During the inspection of the special team, various industrial units were flagged for non-construction of septic and silt tanks and for exceeding the prescribed limits of waste water from industrial units and discharging it into Vasa sewage lines. In this regard, MD WASA Sohail Qadir Cheema has said that under the arrangements made during the monsoon season, industrial units are prohibited from releasing excessive waste water, while special measures are being taken to provide the citizens with the best drainage facilities during the rainy season. He further said that no industrial units will be allowed to discharge waste water into the sewage lines of WASA against the law and in this regard, a comprehensive and effective survey is being conducted by the joint team of WASA Faisalabad, District Administration and Environmental Protection Department and in this survey, legal action will be taken against the industrial units that do not fully implement the SOPs.
