The Supreme Court has issued an important verdict on gifts from dowry and bride

Islam Abad(94 news) The Supreme Court has issued an important decision regarding the gifts and dowry received by the bride, in which it has been decided that the bride's right to dowry and gifts remains intact even after divorce. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah 7 issued a page-long judgment stating that all dowry and gifts given to the bride are her full and unconditional property, the bride's right to dowry and gifts continues even after divorce.

The Supreme Court said that the husband or relatives cannot claim dowry and bridal gifts, any gift given to the groom or his family will not be considered as dowry, the courts have the power to recover only such items which are the personal property of the bride. The Supreme Court declared that anything belonging to the bride's family, the husband or his family will be the property of the bride, this decision does not support the custom of dowry.

In the decision, it was said that according to the decision, the property given to the bride will remain her property, according to Islamic teachings, only dowry is required. The Supreme Court said that the social tradition of dowry often leads to exploitation, pressure and discrimination, for the convenience of the bride, this decision has been issued with a QR code. Muhammad Sajid filed an appeal for the reduction of dowry and non-maintenance to his wife after divorce, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision of the Lahore High Court.
