Bashar al-Assad got political asylum in Moscow, the news about the plane crash turned out to be baseless

Moscow (94 news) Russian state news agencies say former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in Moscow and has received political asylum. Russian media say that Bashar al-Assad and his family were given asylum on humanitarian grounds. When the coup began in late November, reports emerged that Bashar al-Assad and his family had fled to Russia and requested military assistance from Moscow. But at that time Russia did not confirm or deny these news.
According to Al Jazeera TV, various sources, including the BBC's Russian service, have reported that Bashar al-Assad was possibly evacuated from the Russian airport in Latakia by a Russian plane that took off hours earlier with its transponders turned off. Russian officials are currently in contact with representatives of the Syrian armed opposition.
According to a Kremlin source, the opposition has guaranteed the security of Russian bases in Latakia and Tartus, as well as Russian diplomatic missions in Syria. There have also been reports that Russian officials consider it necessary to resume negotiations in Syria under the auspices of the United Nations.
It should be noted that earlier the British media reported that Bashar al-Assad's plane suddenly disappeared from the radar. Concerns have since been raised that the plane may not have been shot down, but it is now clear that Bashar al-Assad has received political asylum in Russia.
